PostHeaderIcon WHAT YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR

To end the suspense.. 12 weeks is a long time.  I’m not at 12 weeks yet, but, I wanted to journal month by month or week by week and the best thing about having a blog is that I can go back to it at anytime and see what I was up to at that time  :-)

Of course, you’ve guessed, I’M PREGNANT.  Or, my boyfriend and I are pregnant.  That sounds silly “we’re pregnant” but there isn’t immaculate conception.

I might be 9 weeks but my periods were never regular so I’ll know more I’ll know for sure once I’ve had a dating scan.  Then my 12 week scan.  Wow

I’ve dreamed about being a Mother since I was 18.  I’d like to say I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in my life but right now everything is weird.  Being pregnant is weird.  Of course I’m happy but I’m also looking forward to second trimester when hopefully my body settles down a little… it feels like it’s been taken over.  Autopilot

Mike (bf) and I are blessed

My periods have never been regular and I’ve always been scared about my fertility.  Scared because I have my own health issues but also scared because I’ve never been pregnant before I guess.  I was overly emotional <- not uncommon, and thought it must just be PMS.  I even felt PMS cramps.  When my period didn’t come I bought a pregnancy test only because we were in the isle and at the supermarket it was a cheap test I didn’t expect anything.  I had wishful thinking.  Every time I’ve ever peed on a stick it quickly turns to negative or not pregnant.  This time, ohmigod, it was cheap and it showed a t like cross thingy.  I was sooooo happy and sooooo excited.  I went to late night chemist immediately and bought another one and drank heaps so I could pee again straight away hehe.  Positive hehehe *squee* yaaaaaaaaaay

Then I started worrying about losing it.  I was only elated for a moment I know how common miscarriage is I was TERRIFIED I AM TERRIFIED.  I try to be positive though and be as healthy as I can.

Weird changes:

  • Emotional for no reason.   More so then usual.
  • Needing to pee all the time
  • Morning (all day!) sickness.  So nauseous! I keep eating like every hour keep something in my stomach.  That’s all I’ve found that has helped morning sickness.  Any advice from other Mothers out there?!
  • Exhaustion.  I pass out as soon as I get home.  This is especially hard for me.  I can’t do the cleaning or laundry I can’t skate I can’t train at the gym I can’t study or make it to tutorials.  I can’t make it out to see my friends or even stay up later then 8pm hahaha so exhausted I know this will triple once I have my baby home maybe this is giving me a taste of things to come haha.  Hormones are weird. Zzzz
  • Food preferences.  I’m listening to my body.  If I want something, I’ll eat it, especially because I’m so nauseous all dairy products make me gag right now.  All dairy apart from this gluten free choc icecream with extra calcium.  You need 2 + serves of dairy don’t you if I’m only eating the choc icecream does that equate to 2 + bowls? I think so… haha… I’ll be healthier 12 weeks and onwards and I’ll start exercising again 12 weeks on right now I’m napping and eating and napping and eating.  Work uses everything I have.

This is only the beginning.  I’m very happy this might sound like a whingy blog post but it’s 7.15pm it’s nearly my time to collapse in bed.  My boyfriend is being amazing.  We’re blessed

Edited to add: My stats

Clothing size 8/10 weight 57kgs

Now after not being so active and my eating and napping constantly.  Clothing size 10 weight 60kgs

Here are a couple photos of my tummy.  I’m not showing yet obviously but I look forward to when I do.  I don’t know if I’m bloated (happens all the time) or my uterus is swollen or who knows..  In 9 months I’ll probably look back and wish my body looked like this.. but right now this is an unflattering photo my body is changing already.  Goodbye vanity

Oh, the morning sickness and the exhaustion! How i remember that! And are you getting that weird tastebuds thing, where things don’t taste right? or you suddenly go off things you used to love? I love onions and garlic, but thoughout my pregnancy the smell of either made me gag.
It’s ok to be a bit scared- it’s only natural! It’s a huge change, but one that your body is equipped for, so just relax as much as you can, and enjoy the ride! As a fit healthy woman you have already given your bub a head start :)
If you ever need anyone to chat to, or just want to know anything, please don’t hesitate to chat to me! Of course, you probably have people closer to home to talk about stuff with, but if you ever feel the need, i iz here!
Congratulations again Katie! I’m very happy for you :)

  • Asylum Dolly says:

Oh, ps. When i was preggers I felt bloaty early on in the pregnancy too. I think it’s partly psychological, because we know there is a little being growing in there ;) I felt huge in the first few weeks, and took photos, but looking back at those pics now, i just looked normal :P The morning sickness probably contributes to the feeling too.. Plus your womb is getting ready to “insulate” the precious cargo!
I hope the nausea isn’t too bad! Big hugs again! xox

    • Katie says:

    YAY!
    x

  • Missy Mel says:

Hey Dolly!!! Emma gave me the news when you text her and YAY!!! How exciting… thought I would check out the blog to see the latest update and here it is…
I will give you one piece of advice…. don’t listen to other mothers advice!!! It usually only scares you or makes you think things will go a certain way and you get freaked out if your not the same… just listen to your midwife and ask them all the questions you need and your body will do the rest!!! I have had 3 babies in 4 years so I have had every type of pregnancy and birth you can think of, and the end result is the best thing ever… so even if your sick and tired etc, it’s all worth it in the end.
If you would like to ask me anything just email me (mel_gareth@vodafone.co.nz) and I will be happy to help out, or you can text emma who I am sure will ask me anyway!!!
    All my love
    Mel xx

    • Katie says:

Thanks so much I will probably have HEAPS of questions ha want to just move in haha. I’m finding it so hard to find a midwife here in Wellington.. I’ll just keep trying… they all on leave when I’m due (20th December-ish) those that aren’t on leave are covering others. WTF. What about ME hahaha

  • Whoa!!!! Congratulations! That’s awesome. Look forward to the regular updates. xx

  • Beatrix says:

CONGRATS Katie! You sound so freakin’ happy! This will be the COOLEST KID EVAH! Unless it rebels against its cool parents and wears ties and suits. Even then, that’s pretty cool.

  • Te says:

I’ve already said my part on Facebook. But need to get in on the blog comment action haha.

Get fat. Get fat. Get fat. Get fat. Get fat. Get fat.

  • Kez says:

CONGRATS!!!! I hope your pregnancy is wonderful and everything goes well. You’re looking amazing now so I think you’ll be one of those gorgeous preggers ladies who only has the weight on their tummy!
    :)

  • Ria says:

Congratulations!!! Oh that’s great news! I would love to know what motherhood feels like and maybe in the future I will, morning sickness and all :)

I’ve also heard that the food that you eat/crave most while pregnant will be your baby’s favourite food in the future. Don’t know if it’s true (my favourite food’s mangos, and strangely enough my mum craved mangoes the most when she was pregnant with me). How cool would it be if the food in question’s something bizzare, like pickles, or wasabi ;D

    Congrats once again!

  • !!! Oh my goodness!!!

This is great! Duuuuude, your kid is going to be adorable!! I’m so happy for you! :D
