Body love
It’s not OK to discriminate against anyone because of age, race, gender, caste, disabilities, political views, religion or anything similarly offensive. But too often do I hear discriminations towards overweight people…”she must sit on the couch eating potato chips and watching TV all night”.
Very offensive and very incorrect
I would like everyone reading this to know that weight isn’t always a direct result of over eating and under exercising!
Have you heard of “the war on obesity”. There is also the war against those who are underweight. Rude comments on how whoever must..be on drugs or have an eating disorder… That’s ENOUGH
Everyone is beautiful, right now, as they are.
- Surround yourself with positive people who love and accept their bodies. Surround yourself with people who love you.
- Watch movies, read books, admire art and anything that has strong characters no matter their size.
- Dress in a way that makes you feel attractive, emphasize your best assets. That could be skin, hair, eyes, it doesn’t have to be 6 pack abs or legs.
- Treat yourself with love.
- Replace negative thoughts with positive affirmations.
- Focus on health.
- Learn to recognize discrimination in the media and stand against it.
- Don’t avoid having your photo taken or looking in the mirror. Infact have a full length mirror in your room and look at yourself often also have photos displayed around the house.
- Spend more time naked.
- Think of all the people you admire: people who have made a difference in your life or the world, consider whether their appearance was important to their success and accomplishments.
- Think of what you’re body can do for you.

Oh how I agree wholeheartedly.
The “Spend more time naked” advice sounds weird but is definitely true. When you get used to seeing your own body you get more comfortable with it, and that means you become more confident and worry less about it. Just getting out of the shower and actually looking at myself in the mirror helped me a lot when I needed to overcome self-consciousness problems.
People can be so judgemental and cruel…even to themselves.
These are fabulous reminders, Katie!
Great post Katie! Yes, I think I’m way too hard on myself sometimes. This post cheered me up =)
On another note, I’ve added you to my Twitter list too =)
i wish everyone would obey these commandments! and i totally agree with not being afraid of mirrors. you will never be comfortable with yourself if you can’t even stand looking at your reflection!
ps i love your new header pic!
xx

Such a fantastic post.. Thanks for all the advice. Your words are sure to brighten up all who are having a bad body image day.
Beautiful post. I’ve started to not look at websites that have heavily processed images of women and I have to tell you, I feel better already.
Awwww. I love this, Katie! <3
