make-up
I don’t like taking photos of myself. But I should really get over my vanity. I thought my make-up was fierce on Saturday..

Could have used some concealer but I’ll remember that next time.
This is after 10 hours I went straight from work to the roller derby… which, naturally, was fucken FUN. <3 RCRD here are some photos and video

ps: Maybe I’m just weird but self portraits. uh. I don’t think that even looks like me?! I guess the camera never lies though. Weird

Make-Over
Seeing it’s the New Year it’s a good time to treat yourself to a make-over.. Not that I need an excuse heh every pay day seems like a good time for a make-over hehe.
You all know what I look like at the moment… This is what is currently on my mind for my make-over:
- I’m trying to grow my hair and get it back into a good condition, so I can’t do anything drastic without *please don’t break* *please don’t break* *please don’t break* uhh I don’t want to push my luck. I’ve pushed it enough! Instead, I’ll put a semi over top of the colour I have because a semi is gentler on the hair. I’m thinking a dark brunette with cherry tones, maybe a few more cherry foils (because I’m already quite a dark brunette) I want that to show through in the sun. Lots of deep treatments and kindness! Trim the ends and keep trimming even though I am trying to grow I have bleach under there somewhere under layers and layers of black dye. So after this colour I’ll only colour the regrowth and snip away until my hair is like mutha fucken silk
- I’d like to have my eyebrows shaped professionally. I have had it done before but I have sensitive skin and the wax would leave my skin so red and itchy and then it would break out. Urgh! I’ll talk to the beauty therapist beforehand and let her know my skin is super sensitive. Maybe she could just use tweezers. I’ve heard having your eyebrows shaped can really make a difference to your whole face.
It is summer here at the moment but it’s still quite cold. Fashionwise I’m loving:
- Dark jeans with tank tops.
- Chunky gold jewellery
- Obnoxiously high heels
- Dark sunglasses
- Skulls
- Animal print
- Faux leather
- Studs
- Vests
- Cut off denim shorts
- Black stockings
- Glitter
- Sequins
- Corsets
- Retro dresses
- Boots
- Girly prints
- Fishnets
Think Alice Delall or Daisy Lowe. Although, I find it hard to define what my personal style is.. when I go shopping I don’t have much on my mind I wait for something to grab my attention then it’s an instant see it, love it, buy it on impulse. It all happens very fast and depends on how I’m feeling at the time. <- it’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mood
I don’t wear make-up to work. I dislike my job immensely and I have no motivation to get dolled up just to sit on my ass and stare at my computer all day, day dreaming. I couldn’t care less what my colleagues and clients think of me. I’d rather be anywhere else! But, this is no excuse. Fashion and make-up are FUN and I’m making it worse for myself. We aren’t allowed to decorate our desks but I’m going to re-decorate myself, hehehe. I do have to wear business attire which doesn’t leave much room for improvement but make-up wise my current goals are:
- Don’t be scared of liquid eyeliner, master the cat’s-eye.
- Mix up my nail polish weekly.
- Pick up speed. It takes me way to long to put my make-up on!
- I’m not very good at blending blush or eyeshadow so practise makes perfect.. If I wear both to work I’ll be a pro in no time
I put a lot more effort in out of work hours. I like to play with grey or gold eyeshadows, black eyeliner, lashings of mascara, pinkish brown blush, and pink or brown lips. Out of work I like to play with all of it, anything goes! Quite a difference between 9-5 Katie and off duty Katie.
What a mixture!!!!! How about you doll face?

Redken Extreme Rescue Force

As you can probably tell from my photos my hair is all over black. Before this, it was all over platinum blonde. I’m a natural blonde. So to say my hair is damaged would be putting it lightly.. it’s snapping off midlength!
Jumpsuits
I have always thought they looked a bit ridiculous.. then when bodysuits where in this season they were everywhere and I thought the same. Toilet breaks shouldn’t take so long! I’m a fan of scoop backs too but would want to wear a bra when I’m wearing something so tight?! Maybe it’s just me…
This summer though I’ve changed my ways heh I’m all about the jumpsuit hehe. Check these:

Mascara Reviews

It doesn’t have the same effect.
I have been using Maybelline Collosal Volume as a second best replacement. This works O K.
Yesterday I bought L’oreal Telescopic Explosion mascara. This mascara has a ball shaped head which means you apply the mascara to sections and it’s a lot more time consuming then a few swipes from a regular wand. It does make it easier to get into the corners and hard to reach areas though. The stick of the mascara flexes with your lashes too. I don’t find this of that much help. Tommorrow when I apply my make up I think I will use my usual Collosal and just use this Telescopic Explosion on the corners.
My review of trying to find a Volume Shocking replacement:
- Napolean Peepshow. Disaster. Clumpy mess which took forever to dry.
- L’Oreal Telescopic. O K. This is similar to the explosion with the flexing wand.
- L’Oreal HIP. This mascara contains collagin. It did make my lashes appear thicker but I like the long seperated look.
- L’Oreal Panoramic Curl. I curl my lashes anyway. This did sperate my lashes though and make my eyes appear more open, it was quite cute.
- Maybelline great lash. I only tried this because it was a give-away. Easy to put on and wash off but didn’t add anything extra to my lashes.
Tips:
- Apply with a zig zag pattern. This separates the lashes out.
- Wriggle the brush right down to the base of the lashes.
- Close your eye and place the wand on top of the lashes at the base and pull through. This will remove clumps.
- It’s OK to mix mascaras
- Play with colours
- Curl. Use your hairdryer to heat the curler a little. You can curl before or after you’ve applied mascara I like to do it after (but make sure mascara is dry first). You don’t want to pull out one of your eyelashes or cut them off so be careful with this. You can always use your fingers to push the lashes up and hold for a few seconds.
- Swipe right to the top and keep looking down so to not end up with any on your eyelid.
I haven’t tried many of the higher end brands because of the price. If you have any recommendations please share xo

Fanstasy:
Mine is to be a gorgeous full time fasionista like Shrinkle or Kelsey. If you haven’t checked out her blog or etsy shop make sure you do. Full of amazing finds!
I am taking my Mums sewing machine off her hands (she never uses it) and enrolling in a corrospondence school to study part time. I will keep working at my current job of course, I will need money to fund this new fantasy, fabrics aren’t cheap..
I’ve already been trolling second hand and vintage stores online and around Wellington. I have so many original ideas in mind too as well as constantly being inspired by what I see. I can’t stop thinking and dreaming about clothes.
It’s going to take years to get my skill level up to standard but I really want to give it a go.
The course I’m enrolling in is called dressmaking, dresscutting & pattern drafting & fashion design.
Ready to learn! Ready to get hands on!
