Iron Grip: Warlord is a computer game by independent game developer Isotx. It is a first-person shooter combined with many real-time strategy elements. It uses the id Tech 3 game engine and is set in the fictional universe of Iron Grip. Warlord is also Isotx’s first commercial title.

Of course, not all people in the world who own a console is familiar with console modding, but for those who are familiar with console modding or want to learn more about it, then this thread is for you.

What is modding?

In short, is is the interaction of a user taking a console and modifying it from its original form.  It is as simple as paining the console unit a different color, or as drastic as doing some firmware upgrades so the console can play copied games or play certain types of media files.

Is it expensive?

No, not quite.  It can be depending on what you are trying to do.  For example, if you want to homebrew the Wii (make it able to play homebrew applications, back up games, or emulators), you can use one method that uses a level exploit for the Twilight Zelda game.

If you have an Xbox 360, you are going to have to open up the Xbox 360 (yes it voids the warranty once you break the sticker), and flash the firmware of the DVD drive (if it is old enough to be flashed) using a third party tool.

In short, it will cost you some money, but it will depend on the tools required. If you have a friend who has modded their console, it is possible you can save a few bucks and borrow their tools to get your particular console modded.

As of today, the following entertainment systems can be modded in terms of console exploits (play emulators, backed up games, etc):

• Nintendo DS
• Nintendo Wii
• Sony Playstation 2
• Sony PSP
• Microsoft Xbox
• Microsoft Xbox 360

As of 2009, the Sony PS3 cannot be hacked.  Part of the reason is that the games are Blu-Ray, but the other reason is that Sony did a great job protecting the CPU cores that modders will be unable to crack it for generations to come. Yes, it is that good of an encryption system.

This walkthrough assume you have installed a FULL 6+ GB ISO (or any image) of the game NOT A 2.5 GB RIP!

1) Download and install PunkBuster specifically for Call of Duty 4:

After installing and opening, you should see a window with a couple of buttons and a white box underneath. Click Check for Updates and follow it from there, it’s pretty straight forward. If anything gets stuck just CTRL + ALT + DEL and end the program, it worked. If for some reason it didn’t, just do it a couple more times. This was my experience with it.

Some of these may not be version 1.4 some are in fact a couple of the US servers have 1.2 and 1.3 on them. I personally have tested every US server on that list, and this is what works and allows me to play a full match on:

You will see the name followed by the command which you can directly copy and paste in the game console. Make sure you “Enable Console” in the Multiplayer Options in the Options menu and then press the ` key to the left of the one. It also has a ~ on it but don’t press shift. So, what you see in console should be:

Now I will answer some FAQs:

Wolverine + Darren420: Someone else is using the same CD key you are, you have a cracked copy or are using a cracked key: Use a keygen and change your CD key, but don’t get a keygen just anywhere. It’s probably a virus. Other than that, CHOOSE A DIFFERENT SERVER! If that still doesn’t work, then wait until your CD key is not in use. These are your only options besides buying the game.

Versatile: I don’t know of any 1.0 servers up anymore, almost all are 1.4. Internationally, I don’t know, but there are probably a lot more lower version servers.

Darren420: Use my server list.

Sinek: It’s probably some firewall or router settings. Go here: http://www.portforward.com and disable all of your firewalls while you’re at it. Unless you’re downloading unknown .exe files, opening unknown e-mails and going to porn sites you’ll be fine.

lalu: Read over this very carefully before doing anything.

ghjgh: Read over this FAQ carefully.

Just some weird guy: You’re probably making a Dedicated or Pure server. Don’t do that. There’s an option somewhere.

That should just about do it. Everything hear should be more than enough for you to be well on your way to Commander!

What do I need to get this amazing OS?

Getting Started

Now that you have your windows 7 ISO your gonna need to burn that iso file to a disc.  Make sure you burn the ISO at a low speed like 4x to ensure quality also run a verify check on the disc afterwards

Use any burning program that supports iso files.  I suggest using ImgBurn or Deepburner because they are freeware, but you could use any  iso burning program that you prefer.

Installing Windows 7 Ultimate

Now that you have your windows 7 iso  burned to a disc, just insert and run the autorun.exe and begin your install.  You will be asked on whether or not you want to do a clean install (erases all data on your computer) so make a backup if you go this route.  Next option is an upgrade from vista (with this you will keep all of your old files but the install will take alot longer) Note: typicall install time is 1 to 2 hours, also always backup before installing a new OS. Read the notes below to get this fully activated OEM to work.

NOTES: For a clean install you need to boot the disc on startup.  For an upgrade you can run it from windows(you can only upgrade from vista or a previous windows7 release) not from XP.

Whether doing an upgrade or a clean install make sure that you uncheck the box to automatically activate windows online.Then when prompted select Ask me later.

• Make sure to Uncheck the “automatically activate windows box” and to select Ask me later when prompted.

• Also a good rule of thumb is to install with your internet disconnected to avoid making a mistake.

• The copy is already activated by simply doing these 2 steps during the install. It’s that simple.

Proof of activation can be checked by typing activate windows in the search and you should get the first pic below

As you may have known, in Microsoft Excel, there is a password feature that the user can use to protect the worksheet as well as the workbook.  Why would you want to password the file?  Well, let’s think about it.  You may want to password the file if:

• It contains hidden information you do not want the user to have access to.
• The document needs to be read only so it does not get modified.
• Do not want people modifiying the data and then giving it to others with wrong information.
• Form of security.

There may be more reason why you want to password protect your files, but this is the highlights of it.  Well, what do you do if you enter in a password and then forget it later on?  Well, first of all, shame on you.

Yes, but how is this article supposed to be Underground?

Of course, the real reason why you are here.  Here is a good example.  Someone at work created a great pricing spreadsheet where you enter in the product’s catalog number, and in the end it spits out the price of that product.  Well, this is great until you have to edit the numbers in the background to have the spreadsheet output correct pricing for current day standards. The problem? The person who was in charge of maintaining this document was laid off, and leaving the password behind was not at the top of his priority list.

Am I doomed to use the old pricing?  Not at all.  With a clever macro script, I can remove the password, take a look at the algorithm, and then update it how I please.  Now that is underground!

Note: I suppose people may dupe others into supplying them excel documents with sensitive information where the giver is under the belief that you will not be able to guess the password. Well, now you will soon have the knowledge to make the creator think twice!

Tutorial

First of all, you need to go to www.straxx.com and download the excel password remover program.  It is compatible with Excel 2003 and below.  It may work on Office 2007, but since Office 2007 has stronger encryption the macro might fail.

Extract the password.xla file from the zip file and put it on your computer, such as the desktop.  Run the file and you will have a picture as shown below:

Click enable macros.

Now you will see the next pop up screen:

Open up any spreadsheet with a password, or create a password yourself and protect the sheet and/or workbook.

Below is an example of me trying to edit a password protected worksheet:

How to remove the password? Easy!  Go to tools, then select the appropriate unprotect option:

If the password is somewhat simple, it will take seconds.  If the password is very strong, then it might take awhile.  Here is what the next screen looks like when successfully cracked:

Now press OK, and you can do whatever you want with the spreadsheet.  Is that awesome or what!  Leave a comment and tell us how you have used this password removal feature for your benefits. :-0
